#1!: Alicia Keys Lights Billboard Chart on ‘Fire’

Alicia Keys new album, “Girl On Fire“, debuted at the number one spot on the Billboard 200 charts with sales of 159, 000 (that’s a bit small, especially compared to her last efforts, but a win is a win). This makes Keys fifth time at the top spot.

Meanwhile, the former number one album. Rihanna’s, “Unapologetic”, slipped a whopping 70% – good enough for 6th place.

Q-Tip signs to G.O.O.D Music

Kanye West “Pause”
Prolific A Tribe Called Quest rapper Q-Tip kept the party going as yesterday was his 42nd birthday, and the next announcement was that he had signed to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music Label. G.O.O.D. Music, which falls under the Def Jam Recordings umbrella, has a roster that includes Pusha T, Big Sean, John Legend, Yasiin Bey, and Kid Cudi, among others.
Q-Tip, who wears many hats, has been beefing up his catalogue as a  producer more that a verse spitter lately, working everyone from pop singers to ‘Ye on his prior album as well as Watch The Throne. His first album with G.O.O.D, titled The Last Zulu, is set to drop in early 2013.
Q-Tip said in a statement  “I’m excited to be a part of the great iconic Def Jam label,” Q-Tip said via a statement. “I’m humbled to be a part of such a storied history.  To reconnect with Barry Weiss is a great thing. As far as G.O.O.D. Music, I’m excited to solidify my working relationship with Kanye, and I look forward to all the opportunities that lie ahead in our partnership. I will do my best to present the most cutting edge music I can.”
This comes as no surprise to avid listeners who know that Q-Tip and Kanye have had an ongoing relationship for some years now as their camps seem to be connected through kinship in music and actual relation as Consequence, another rapper signed to G.O.O.D Music who has had some very public squabbles with his label head, are actually cousins and at one point Cons was in A Tribe Called Quest, go figure.
