Facebook Smartphone In the Works

Facebook smartphone may hit the mobile market sometime next year.

In the May 27 article “Facebook Tries Tries Again on a Smartphone,” New York Times’ Nick Bolton reports: “Employees of Facebook and several engineers who have been sought out by recruiters there, as well as people briefed on Facebook’s plans, say the company hope to release its own smartphone by next year. These people spoke only on the condition of anonymity for fear of jeopardizing their employment or relationships with Facebook.”

Facebook became aware of the increased mobile browsing of Facebook, since it began to take away from the company’s ability to sell ads.

Facebook has been working on this project for some time; in a 2010, Techcrunch exposed the company’s secret project.

If this project is successful, this will change the mobile use of Facebook for its current 847, 573, 840 users.

If it was available, would you buy a Facebook smartphone?
